Obsessive craft

Curious Outpost is an online journal that explores the visual essence of our world through the lens of art, design, travel, and imagination.

In a world where everyone is looking to capture ever smaller fragments of attention, we return to a mindset where people, places, and craft matter.

Imagine yourself in the backseat of a taxi, weaving through the streets of Buenos Aires, when a new song begins—and strikes a chord.

Or in the tight quarters of a secondhand bookstore in Paris, the air tinged with an earthy aroma, where a new-found treasure elicits a gasp.

Or standing before Hayao Miyazaki’s desk, lost in the details of ink and paint, when the magic of Studio Ghibli comes alive.

This is Curious Outpost.

MEET THE EDITORS

Rebecca Bedrossian, editor and co-founder of Curious Outpost. A woman with dark, curly hair wearing sunglasses and a quilted leather jacket leans against a small, three-wheeled vehicle parked on a city street.
  • With an eye for design and an appetite for adventure, Rebecca Bedrossian has spent years curating content on design, travel, and everything in between.

These days, you'll find her hunting down vintage bookstores, geeking out over historical artifacts, or leafing through a magazine and wondering who did the illustrations. She’s our fearless leader at Curious Outpost, which is largely a reflection of her lifelong habit of wandering off the path and stumbling over stories that need to be told.

Joe Shepter, editor and co-founder of Curious Outpost. A smiling man in a sweatshirt standing in a modern library with a large glass wall filled with books behind him. Other people are seen walking in the background.

  • Joe Shepter has written #1 bestselling and published articles in the pages of prestigious publications like Wired and Forbes—though almost never under his own name. That’s right, Joe is one of the world’s top ghostwriters and advertising copywriters.

From a compound somewhere in Connecticut, he regularly weighs in on everything from finance to international relations—and he’s helped promote everything from well-known brands to blockbuster movies. We’ve coaxed him out of his dark and dusty cave to offer his perspective on travel, food, design, and history.
